Abstract

VIIANTO, Lari. Education in Guanajuato: A future hindered by the past. Acta univ [online]. 2018, vol.28, n.spe, pp.14-22. ISSN 2007-9621.  https://doi.org/10.15174/au.2018.1989.

The main indicator to assess education at an international level is the population’s average number of years of education. According to this indicator, Guanajuato presents a gap with respect to the national average, which in turn presents a lag compared to developed countries. Young generations, however, are reaching relatively high educational levels, while the indicator is hindered by the low educational level of older generations, especially in rural municipalities. Rurality does not affect the education of young generations, except for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Keywords : Education; educational lag; educational indicators.
