Abstract

GONZALEZ, Ana Marta. Alcance y límites del deber de obediencia al gobierno según Hume. Tópicos (México) [online]. 2009, n.37, pp.77-116. ISSN 0188-6649.

Hume's legitimation of government is explored, as well as the arguments he gives to make room for civil resistance, without thereby asserting a right to resistance. To this end he distinguishes between natural obligation -or obligation of interest- and moral obligation -supported by moral sentiment. Thanks to this distinction he is in a position to distinguish normality and exception, and characterize the sort of situation which could back up actions of civil resistance.

Keywords : civil obedience; public and private duties; natural and civil duties; institutional crisis; principle of justice.
