Abstract

MARQUEZ, Teresa. Tecnologías de información, poder y empresa-red en la sociedad del conocimiento. Alteridades [online]. 2005, vol.15, n.29, pp.45-54. ISSN 2448-850X.

In a society of knowledge, the net metaphor is used as a tool to describe a new scheme of more horizontal and flexible social and productive relations. In this place, the image of network is closely related to information technologies (IT) but not to power issues. This article presents two case studies concerning enterprise providers within the automobile industry at the industrial cluster of Volkswagen in Puebla in order to question the centrality of IT in post fordism organizational systems as well as the absence of power and conflict in the relations that these technologies reinforce and support. This article abrogates for a qualitative and multidisciplinary approach to the problems that a society of knowledge sets forth. In this sense, old issues in social and political anthropology, along with the ethnographic method, might contribute to transform a metaphor into a theoretical reality.

Keywords : information technologies; networks; power; industrial cluster; automobile industry.
