Abstract

JOCILES RUBIO, María Isabel. The anthropology of education in Spain: the hallmark of immigration as well as of academic interests. Alteridades [online]. 2007, vol.17, n.34, pp.93-104. ISSN 2448-850X.

The article focuses on the development of anthropology of education in Spain, and, although the anthropology of education has had a relatively recent history, it is characterized by a considerable increment (above all in the last 15 years) of the number of the research works that are being carried out, the bibliography as well as the scientific forums where socio-anthropological ideas, concerning education issues, can take place. It also argues that, within such development, the thematic related to diversity and ethno-national minorities has had primacy and, on the other hand, it has also been very relevant -among other factors- the inclusion of the subject anthropology of education as a compulsory one in the pedagogy degree program.

Keywords : Anthropology; education; Spain; ethnic minorities; immigrants; culture.
