Abstract

WITKER BARRA, Rodrigo. Digital Museology and the Mexican Museum: Digital Museological Tools, 1990-2008. Alteridades [online]. 2009, vol.19, n.37, pp.87-101. ISSN 2448-850X.

A general panorama of developments around the relationship between museology and digital technologies in Mexico is offered in this article, examining the 18 years since these technologies have been adopted. We review how these "new technologies" have been appropriated to build digital gear that allows the contemporary museum to more efficiently develop the tasks it is aimed at fulfilling. The focus is placed on analyzing what we define as digital museological tools, through the identification of the processes that contrive computer products that help solve problems that arise in museums.

Keywords : digital museology; construct; digital museological tools; information culture; Domus.
