Abstract

MORENO MAESTRO, Susana. Integration Policies and cultural rights: Immigration Programmes in the Government of Andalucia. Alteridades [online]. 2010, vol.20, n.40, pp.35-48. ISSN 2448-850X.

This research takes in consideration the constrains of the Andalucian Government to integrate immigrants within the institutionalized discriminatory practices at all goverment levels in the European Union. The Andalucia Government uses an individualistic approach to understand the rights of each person disregarding collective issues, which could facilitate their integration. This contrasts with the view of the Senegales immigrants who see their networks, not just as a cultural concern but as the way to negotiate and solve their necessities and problems.

Keywords : immigration policies; collective rights; integration; transnationalism; Senegales.
