Abstract

RAMOS, Ana. Anthropological perspectives on memory in the contexts of diversity and inequality. Alteridades [online]. 2011, vol.21, n.42, pp.115-130. ISSN 2448-850X.

The anthropological studies on memory in contexts of cultural diversity and social inequality are distributed in diverse fields of debate: memory as an inherited tradition, memory as a historical source and memory as a strategic use of the past. This work proposes to update the state-of-the art from these different perspectives, aiming to rethink the limits, achievements and constitutive tensions in our understanding on the remembering and forgetting processes.

Keywords : ontologies; truth; relation past-present; politics of memory; subordinate memories.
