Abstract

We present in this article the main qualitative results collected in our interviews with mothers undergoing maternal care and about women that died by maternity causes in the municipality of nzimin in yucatan (Mexico). the objective was to identify some socio-cultural causes of mothers dying that could be modified through intervention. This study wasfocused on three thematic axes: a) maternal health needs; b) knowledge and practices on maternal health; and c) knowledge of maternal risk. In the conclusions we draw some recommendations for improving intervention, diminishing the socio-cultural inequality and reducing maternity deaths in Tizimin.
