Abstract

SCHMILCHUK, Graciela. Públicos de museos, agentes de consumo y sujetos de experiencia. Alteridades [online]. 2012, vol.22, n.44, pp.23-40. ISSN 2448-850X.

The article revisits the macro-sociological visitor studies, as developed in Mexico and other countries, that are made to adjust cultural policies and budget allocation accordingly. It identifies such tasks as opposed to the results of academic research with precise hypothesis, as well as the assessments each museum makes according to its goals and specificities: exhibit evaluation, learning evaluation, public image, and programs content evaluation. It also offers the implications of some of the theoretical and methodological perspectives used in such studies and opens many questions concerning what to do, who should do it, and how to do it.

Keywords : Macrosociological surveys of museum's public; exhibition evaluation.
