Abstract

DIAZ BARRIGA CUEVAS, A. Alejandro. Emotional Essence and their Relation with the Development of the Pre-Hispanic Nahua Childhood. Alteridades [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.47, pp.9-19. ISSN 2448-850X.

This article analyzes the importance of emotional essence as generators of the physical and cognitive development of the Nahua children during the pre-Hispanic era. Likewise, considering that age is defined culturally, through a comparative study of the colonial sources and the ethnographic data of different indigenous communities, it is suggested thatformer Nahuas marked out children's ages based on the presence and manifestation of their emotional essence.

Keywords : souls; ages; Tonalli; rites of passage.
