Abstract

MALDONADO ARANDA, Salvador. Clearing Uncertain Ways: Itineraries of a Research on Violence in Mexico. Alteridades [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.47, pp.63-76. ISSN 2448-850X.

The production of ethnographies has resulted in risks in contexts of war, riots or daily violence, but it seems that nowadays it has become more difficult. Issues such as the increase of violence are redefining the ways of producing knowledge, which has repercussions on the textual representation of reality. What kind of investigation we can build in scenarios where the "logic" of violence has restructured the road map of anthropologists? What knowledge can we offer? What is the role of our speech inpublic discourse? These dilemmas will be confronted here by means of the experience offieldwork in a Mexican region with strong drug trafficking and organized crime problems.

Keywords : drug trafficking; drugs; fieldwork; ethnography.
