Abstract

AGUILAR NERY, Jesús. Beliefs on the Concept of Race for Education Professionals in Baja California. Alteridades [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.48, pp.123-136. ISSN 2448-850X.

The construction of racial differentiation is explored in Baja California, on a sample of university professors, on the one hand, and preschool coordinators, on the other. This paper intends to explain the beliefs guiding a racist ideology. By means of a survey, it was found that the word race is mainly used to group and divide groups of human beings. Moreover, skin color is essential to define human races. A trend related to confusing or contradictory information due to various sources that support the existence of human races was identified. It concludes by noting different implications of a deficient knowledge to build human differences and some considerations for future studies.

Keywords : racism; professors; ideology; Mexico; skin color; differences.
