Abstract

LACARRIEU, Mónica. "Traditional Markets" in the Gentrification/Requalification Processes: Consensus, Arguments and Conflicts. Alteridades [online]. 2016, vol.26, n.51, pp.29-41. ISSN 2448-850X.

This article expands on the problematic subject of the "traditional markets" in the Latin american cities, recently described as in declivity and/or capitalized by their content (local foods) or their container (buildings). It also analyzes the relation between the processes of gentrification/requalification and the roll of the markets related to them. Here, the local and located individuals and social groups apparently affected, negotiate and dispute those processes of public and/or private requalification.

Keywords : dequalification; urban requalification; sociospatial segregation; urban public spaces.
