Abstract

TABARES MERINO, Gema. From the H. Townhall to the Honorable People’s House: Municipal Community Council of Ayutla de los Libres. Alteridades [online]. 2022, vol.32, n.64, pp.59-70.  Epub Feb 20, 2023. ISSN 2448-850X.  https://doi.org/10.24275/uam/izt/dcsh/alteridades/2022v32n64/tabares.

In this article the relevance of what it means to be a community government is presented starting from the experience in the Municipal Community Council of Ayutla de los Libres and the new ways of policy-making and horizontal-power construction through the figure of the assembly facing the resistance of the opposition represented by the political and miscegenated elite are analyzed. As the new structure of community government, its commissions, and the transition from H. Townhall to Honorable People’s House is set out; the figure of the Council is taken up and, two years into its administration, reference to public works and community accountability is made, as well as the gendered political violence against the women in positions of authority. In methodological terms, committed, collaborative, and community authority-approved work has been carried on.

Keywords : community government; assembly; free determination; gender.
