Abstract

VEGA, Candela de la. Who is still alive, do not say “never”. Crossroads and challenges of the marxist class category to read contemporary resistance. Perf. latinoam. [online]. 2020, vol.28, n.56, pp.359-377.  Epub Aug 30, 2021. ISSN 0188-7653.  https://doi.org/10.18504/pl2856-014-2020.

This essay starts by diagnosing a tendency to the selective and exclusive use of class marxist analytics in order to account for the historically varied processes of political mobilization in Latin American societies. In this framework, the first section explore some reasons and, mainly, the consequences of the rejection (implicit or not) of marxist theory and its focus on the class to explain the constitution of political subjects that can not be recognized, prima facie, as “typically class” subjects. In a second section, and considering that we can not make any criticism without proposing possible alternatives, we propose recovering certain conceptual clues about class as a way of thinking the multiple constitution of political subjects, with their no less heterogeneous experiences of resistance to capitalism and neoliberal order.

Keywords : class; conflicts; class struggle; political subject; Marxism; resistance.
