The present work aims to study the reception of Emile Durkheim’s ideas in the Sociology chair of the Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Sociales of the Universidad de la República for de period 1915-1947. To achieve it, the text focus on the books, articles and class notes, of those who were professors of the afore chair: Carlos María Prando and Isaac Ganón. At the same time, an attempt is made to study the process of institutionalization of sociology in Uruguay, due to which the teaching of this discipline in the chair of Philosphy of Law between 1898 and 1915 is also considered.
