Abstract

RODIL-MARZABAL, Óscar  and  SANCHEZ-CARREIRA, María del Carmen. China and its dual insertion model in Latin America in the context of international fragmentation of production. Perf. latinoam. [online]. 2022, vol.30, n.60, 00003.  Epub May 31, 2024. ISSN 0188-7653.  https://doi.org/10.18504/pl3060-003-2022.

The aim of this paper is to analyse the changes in China relations with seven Latin American countries from a double perspective, trade and production, based on the study of trade flows in value-added. The study is completed with an analysis of intra-industry and technology-intensive flows between these economies. New evidence is presented on the role of Latin America in China global strategy, which corresponds to the characteristics of a dual peripheral insertion model, although with nuances differentiated by country.

Keywords : economic integration; China; Latin America; trade; global value chains.
