This article analyzes the behaviors that religious actors have assumed in the truth commissions in the cases of Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru and Colombia, opening the way to reflect on their importance in these instruments of transitional justice in Latin America. For this purpose, a qualitative documentary research was used from the comparative study, which allowed to identify the contributions that the religious sectors, mostly Christian, have made to the construction and search for the truth in each of these countries that have implemented truth commissions due to various political circumstances, finding that the actions of these actors have not been homogeneous and that, on the contrary, their behavior has been subject to the sociopolitical reality of each country.

Keywords : truth commission; transitional justice; religious actor; Latin America; truth; truth clarification.
