Abstract

BROWN, Josefina Leonor. Derechos, ciudadanía y mujeres en Argentina. Polít. cult. [online]. 2004, n.21, pp.111-125. ISSN 0188-7742.

In the context of current debates about citizenship, some of the tensions visible in the discussion of reproductive rights as a woman’s civil right in Argentina are worth showcasing. The opening section offers some historical comments about the way in which women have been included and/or excluded from citizenship in modern political regimes. This provides a framework for defining the importance of reproductive rights in considering women full citizens. The points of commonality and disagreement about reproductive rights reveal the levels of tolerance of the patriarchy in Argentina.

Keywords : tolerance; patriarchy; women; citizenship; reproductive rights.
