Abstract

This paper explores the relationship between the indigenous resistance that emerged in Latin America during the last two decades of the 20th century and the processes of neoliberal globalization that a national and international legal and political framework that is relatively favorable to indigenous mobilizations. It also analyzes the new conditions they offer their struggles and the way in which various ethnic figures in the countries of the continent with the highest proportions of indigenous populations (Bolivia, Ecuador, Mexico) are taking advantage of them, and it contrasts the combat strategies adopted in each and the factors that, as in Guatemala and Peru, have prevented them from doing so.
