Abstract

GONZALEZ GUTIERREZ, Alejandro. De revolucionarios, partidos y utopismos: Algunas reflexiones en torno a la izquierda mexicana. Polít. cult. [online]. 2015, n.43, pp.27-53. ISSN 0188-7742.

This essay undertakes a historical analysis of the politics, ideology and stance of the Mexican communist Left in relation to the State throughout the 20th Century. Its aim -in looking at the experience of the Left- is to shed light on the historical nature of the Mexican political system, in order to show that the containment of political oppositions was achieved by way of a complex mechanism of concession and coercion. It was thanks to the employment of this dual mechanism that the regime secured its political project at the detriment of other political offers, such as that of the Left. In the face of the neoliberal imposition, this essay looks to generate spaces of reflection on the challenges, limits and reach of the Left in the past and in the present.

Keywords : mexican left; Mexican Communist Party; Communist International; mexican political system; PRI regime.
