Abstract

AGUILA RAMIREZ, Ruth Noemí; CASAS VALDEZ, Margarita; CRUZ AYALA, Mary Belle  and  NUNEZ LOPEZ, Roberto Aurelio. Variación estacional de la ficoflora en la Laguna Ojo de Liebre, Baja California Sur, México. Hidrobiológica [online]. 2000, vol.10, n.2, pp.147-160. ISSN 0188-8897.

This work represents the first methodical phycologycal survey in which was determined the specific composition of the community of macroalgae and their spatial and temporary variation at the Ojo de Liebre lagoon, B. C. S., during 1995. We identified 73 species: 34 of the Rhodophyta division, 27 of the Chlorophyta and 12 of the Phaeophyta. The localities with hard substrate presented a greater richness of species than characterized by soft substrate, being Isla Brosa the one which presented the greatest number of species (47) and Campo Ejidatario the one that presented the smallest one (24). Of the species, 20 were exclusives of someone locality and generally were present during only someone specific season. Changes in the richness of species were not so evident between the seasons, where the greatest number of species (52) was found in summer and the fewest in spring (39). About composition of species, seasonal changes were more evident, where each locality presented a precise pattern. The species that were widely distributed in the lagoon and were present throughout the season were: Spyridia filamentosa (Wulfen) Harvey, Hypnea valentiae (Turner) Montagne, Chondria dasyphylla (Woodward) C. Agardh, Dasya Baillouviana (Gmelin) Montagne, Polysiphonia pacifica Hollenberg y Ectocarpus commensalis Setchell y Gardner, though each one of them was seasonally diferent. 43% of the species were of wide distribution, 36% with temperate affinity and 21% with tropical affinity. This indicates that the phycoflora of the lagoon is representative of a temperate-warm transition zone.

Keywords : Macroalgae; Ojo de Liebre; B. C. S.; floristics; seasonal variation.
