Abstract

SEGURA-PUERTAS, Lourdes; ORDUNA-NOVOA, Karina  and  HEIMER DE LA COTERA, Edgar. Further observations on the strobilation of the coronate scyphozoan Linuche unguiculata (thimble jellyfish). Hidrobiológica [online]. 2008, vol.18, suppl.1, pp.49-52. ISSN 0188-8897.

In nature, strobilation of Linuche unguiculata is triggered by an increase in water temperature. However, the results showed that under laboratory conditions, it can be induced when scyphistomae are submitted to a sudden drop of 5 °C.

Keywords : Scyphomedusa; thimble jellyfish; strobilation; life history; Caribbean Sea.
