Abstract

ALAYE-RAHY, Norma  and  MORALES-PALACIOS, José J.. Haematological parameters and blood cells of juvenile pescado blanco (Chirostoma estor estor) grown in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, México. Hidrobiológica [online]. 2013, vol.23, n.3, pp.340-347. ISSN 0188-8897.

Basic haematological parameter in young Chirostoma estor estor were determined. Blood parameter assessed were haematocrit (HCT), haemoglobin concentration (Hb), ergthrocgtes and differential cells counts. The sample was formed by juveniles from the Laboratory of aquaculture of CRIP-Pátzcuaro grown in tank and tubs in a recirculation system and by organism from a pond of the Centre-Pázcuaro. Blood samples were collected by cardiac puncture or by cutting the caudal peduncule. Haematological parameter from natural populations of C.estor estor were used as controls. Significant statistical differences were found between HCT and Hb values from cultured organisms (tank and pond) in relation to control. HCT values (36.2% ± 3.1) and ergthrocgtes (2.03 ± 0.36 χ 106 cell3mm) of young fishes in recirculation tubs were within the ranges of the reported values for fishes from Lake Pátzcuaro. The differential count of cells showed immature cells, released for circulation in response to stress, hgpoxia and anemia. The cells of the leukocgte series were altered in number and qualitg, mainlg bg the absence of granulocgtic neutrophils cells. The hematological values obtained in juveniles cultivated with good management were comparable to those obtained in adult fish of C .estor estor in wild population. According to this studg was not possible to differentiate between young and adults haemograms of C. estor estor.
