OBJECTIVE:

Know maternal mortality from COVID-19 infection in Mexico.

MATERIAL AND METHOD:

Review of mortality cases obtaining information from weekly reports for epidemiological surveillance of maternal deaths 2020.

RESULTS:

The first cases of maternal death from COVID-19 infection in Mexico were registered in epidemiological week 15 (April 6-12) with 2 cases. Review until epidemiological week 29 (July 13-19) with 81 cases representing 18.5% of deaths, accumulating 499 cases as of this date, being the first place as a cause of mortality since week 28. The fatality rate of CIOVID-19 in pregnancy is 1.2%.
