Abstract

GARRITZ RUIZ, Andoni. La educación de la química en México en el siglo XX. Rev. Soc. Quím. Méx [online]. 2001, vol.45, n.3, pp.109-114. ISSN 0583-7693.

The chemical education status in Mexico during the twentieth century is revised from the recommendations given in the paper "Diagnosis and analysis of chemistry in Mexico" elaborated by Lena Ruiz et al. in 1986. It is concluded that in the curricular design of junior high school in 1993, an adequate focus was achieved in chemistry teaching and learning, an assessment of which should be made in a couple of years. With respect to high school education, a series of problems remains as those of coordination, efficiency and quality of teachers, among others. Finally, in higher education, the recommendation of giving to the professional careers a foundation essentially scientific will only occur in few places, where there is enough personnel recognized as academic leaders.

Keywords : Chemical education XX century; secondary school; high school; university; chemistry; chemical engineering and pharmacy.
