regression equation for 64 naphta hydrocarbons is proposed to relate a new index (C_g), the Kovats index obtained in apolar chromatographic columns (I_apolar) and the chemical connectivity index order 1 valence type (χ_v¹). The statistical profile of the proposed regression is similar to the reference model but with two easy-to-obtain, independent variables and a higher Fisher index. This permits a good approach to identify the hydrocarbons under study by means of the suggested equation with a maximum error of 4,1 % between the experimental and calculated Kovats indices.
