Abstract

MIRANDA, S. Patricia; CARDENAS, Galo; LOPEZ, Damián  and  LARA-SAGAHON, Alma V.. Comportamiento de películas de Quitosán compuesto en un modelo de almacenamiento de aguacate. Rev. Soc. Quím. Méx [online]. 2003, vol.47, n.4, pp.331-336. ISSN 0583-7693.

Chitosan films are known as a good oxygen and carbon dioxide barrier. However, chitosan composite films containing mixtures with emulsifier and plastifiers are able to improve their physicomechanical properties. The addition of glycerol, tween 80 and wax into the films ensure the water permeability and improve mechanical properties such as elongation, tension force and elastic modulus. This novel materials exhibit a potential to be used as biodegradable food packing.

Keywords : Chitosan films; biodegradable films; edible films; water vapor permeability; mechanical properties; avocado storage conditions.
