Abstract

ALVARADO-BLANCO, Fernando Miguel et al. Education for self-dilation and upkeep in the simple esophageal strictures. Cir. gen [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.4, pp.284-290.  Epub Nov 27, 2020. ISSN 1405-0099.

Esophageal structures continue to be a worrying pathology in endoscopy services; and of course, in upper gastrointestinal surgery services. Without statistics at the national level, it is known that there are several etiologies that prevent a single esophageal dilation from being effective in patients with simple esophageal stenosis. The dilators have been used since ancient times to treat esophageal structures, so much, that their current evolution has played an important role in softness, and the possibility of generating self-dilatation. The relatively low morbidity and mortality indexes have allowed the application of this treatment to be extended worldwide; but the knowledge of its indications is fundamental, these indicate the need for food to improve symptomology and the reduction of the risk of bronchoaspiration in patients with simple stenosis. The General Hospital of Mexico, hosts a large percentage of population and have most of its services, therefore, it is a representing strategic sample for any type of research in our country. A research protocol was planned. Its objective being the education of simple esophageal stenosis and its future management at home through self-dilatation, proper training, and the study of each type of stenosis by individual.

Keywords : Simple esophageal strictures; esophageal self-dilation.
