Abstract

Introduction:

acute appendicitis is one of the most frequent surgical emergencies around the world. However, there is also an entity known as chronic appendicitis, a rare condition that has been studied over time in order to establish criteria for its diagnostic.

Clinical case:

we present the case of a patient with symptomatology of eighteen months of evolution, who underwent surgery; histopathological report compatible with chronic inflammatory changes.

Conclusions:

chronic appendicitis represents a diagnostic challenge that physicians must know and consider as a possible diagnosis and thus avoid complications.
