John Rawls presents his notion of Public Reason related to public discussions in plural societies. This paper appeals then, not only to Rawls' notion of Public Reason, but also to its possible utility in understanding and articulating our public discussions. The first part of this essay (I), is a brief exposition of some essential elements of the notion of Public Reason in Rawls. While the second section (II), outlines possible applications of Rawls' ideas in the realm of certain disputes concerning the legitimacy of public support for religious education.
