Abstract

SPECTOR, Ezequiel. The Family in Rawls: In What Sense Is It Part of the Basic Structure?. Isonomía [online]. 2014, n.41, pp.97-117. ISSN 1405-0218.

Whether the family is part of the basic structure or it is not is a question whose answer is not entirely clear in John Rawls’ theory. On the one hand, the author claims that it is part of the basic structure, but, on the other hand, when he discusses this institution, he puts it at the level of other institutions that, he explicitly claims, are not part of the basic structure. The aim of this paper is to provide an understanding of Rawls’ theory that solves this problem.

Keywords : Rawls; family; basic structure.
