Abstract

During it's frst 100 years in the Mexican Nation, the Jews have mantained a communitary structure that has preserved it's ancestral identity and at the same time has integrated many elements of the Mexican culture. Te religious dimension, in the past central in Judaism and Jewish identity, shares nowadays it's importance with culture, nationalism and ideology. This paper studies the structure of the Mexican-Jewish community since the arrival of the frst inmigrants in the early 20th century untill today, and the development of a new identity, that of the Mexican-Jew.
