Abstract

MORALES, Martin M.. The Jesuit Letters. The Folds of a Genre. Hist. graf [online]. 2014, n.43, pp.51-76. ISSN 1405-0927.

The "Jesuit Letters", in our hands, have become illegible. As Jacques Derrida said, all text is ash, but it didn't become ash, it was born as such. All text is a ruthless reduction of what has happened, as the popular saying goes: where there was fire, ashes remain. A text is what remains after life and time do their job of annihilation, of consumption.

Keywords : letters; jesuits; writing; translation.
