Abstract

REED, Benjamin. Oratorian Culture in Mexico City, 1569-1821: Corporative Identity between Structure and Action.Translated byUriel Iglesias Colón. Hist. graf [online]. 2018, n.51, pp.15-52. ISSN 1405-0927.

This essay examines the changing history of Oratorian corporate identity in Mexico City, from its foundations in 1659 through the changing social and political landscape of Spanish rule. Although I assign priority to the foundations built in the Seventeenth century, the dynamic and changing character of Oratorian identity emerges most clearly through comparative interpretations of institutional and cultural changes in its manifestations over time.

Keywords : Oratorians; identity; preaching; prayer; music.
