Abstract

Catalan wines and liquors commerce was a profitable business of trading companies exporting to New Spain's large consumer market. This article studies the history of the international trade circuits and networks of Spanish drinks (of the types Chacoli, Sanlúcar, Jerez, Clarete, Pedro Jiménez, Garnacha wine, red wine and Catalan liquor) towards the port of Veracruz, and their introduction into the New Spain market, specially silver mines, towns and Monterrey, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Guadalajara, Veracruz, Campeche and Puebla cities.
