Abstract

The 337 species of vascular plants considered endemic from the Balsas river basin are listed. Basing on the number of taxa, the best represented families are: Compositae 48, Leguminosae 30, Cactaceae 21, Burseraceae and Crassulaceae 17. Among the monocotyledons Orchidaceae 24, Bromeliaceae and Liliaceae 16. From pteridoflora only 14 species were registred as endemics. The best represented state is Guerrero (82 spp exclusive), the state that less species registers is Jalisco (7 spp) and Tlaxcala none. Most of the species were located in tropical deciduous forest and in the xerophytic scrub.
