Abstract

This article presents the results of a study of the flora and vegetation of the Atizapan-Valle Escondido state park, located in Atizapan de Zaragoza, State of Mexico. The floristic list includes 78 families, 226 genus and 320 species. The largest families are: Compositae (70 species, 22%), Gramineae (25 species, 8%), Leguminoseae (27 species, 8%); together these contain 38% of the species found in the park. The following types of vegetation are recognized and briefly discussed: oak forest, secondary grassland, desert-scrub and mixed vegetation.
