Abstract

BLANCO-SEPULVEDA, Rafael. Relationship between bulk density and mechanical resistance as an indicator of soil compaction. Agrociencia [online]. 2009, vol.43, n.3, pp.231-239. ISSN 2521-9766.

In scientific literature contrasting results have been reported concerning the relationship between bulk density (pj and soil penetration resistance (cone index = CI). The objective of this study was to demonstrate that there is a significant correlation between pa and CI if sampling is conducted with moisture content at field capacity and sampling depth in soil with high gravel content is controlled. The regression equation obtained explained 60 % of the variability of ρa from CI and soil plasticity.

Keywords : Correlation and regression analysis; field capacity; gravel content; physical degradation of soil; penetrometer; plasticity.
