Abstract
ALTERMAN, Nora B. and FOGLINO, Ana María. Los Centros de Actividades Juveniles. Balance de su operación como estrategia para mejorar la convivencia en las secundarias cordobesas. RMIE [online]. 2005, vol.10, n.26, pp.669-692. ISSN 1405-6666.
In 2005, more than one hundred youth activity centers (Centros de Actividades Juveniles-CAJ) will be opened in secondary schools in Córdoba, Argentina, to add to the 47 existing centers. This expansion constitutes a strategy of government intervention in response to numerous problems that affect secondary schools: failure, dropping out, a lack of discipline, and violence. The measure justifies reviewing the experience and identifying difficulties and achievements, as a strategy for improving interaction in secondary schools. The purpose of this article is to present the initial progress of research on how CAJ'S have provided answers to complex problems schools have been unable to solve on their own. Shown are the conditions and variables that come together in constructing CAJ'S, and their impact on institutional life.
Keywords : Violence; disciplinary problems; educational alternatives; self-management of secondary schools; Argentina.
