VELAZQUEZ REYES, Luz María. Experiencias estudiantiles con la violencia en la escuela. RMIE [online]. 2005, vol.10, n.26, pp.739-764. ISSN 1405-6666.
Students from nine preparatory schools in Estado de México, on narrating their progress through the educational levels of preschool, elementary school, secondary school and preparatory school, related their experience with violence perpetrated by their peers as well as by teachers. In a sample of 346 high school students (193 females and 153 males), 205 episodes of peer intimidation were found, and 228 violent acts by teachers. Peer behavior ranged from physical aggression to subtle psychological aggression, while teachers scolded, insulted, discriminated, humiliated, shouted and even hit students. The percentages of cases of school violence were elementary (67), secondary (15), preparatory (11) and preschool (8).
