Abstract

RMIE [online]. 2006, vol.11, n.31, pp.1363-1388. ISSN 1405-6666.

To construct an integral model of tutoring, functional task analysis was used. A systematic review of the bibliography and expert consensus was made, in order to identify the functions of tutoring in higher education. The model identifies eight functions: educating professionals and researchers, teaching, training, academic advising, socialization, sponsorship and psychosocial support. It promotes tutorial practices that are more aware and reflective, while favoring the training of tutors and the evaluation of their quality.

Keywords : tutoring; higher education; education of professionals and researchers; Mexico.
