Abstract
FLORES-CAMACHO, Fernando et al. Concepciones sobre la naturaleza de la ciencia de los profesores de biología del nivel secundario. RMIE [online]. 2007, vol.12, n.32, pp.359-380. ISSN 1405-6666.
Recent research on teaching science has emphasized the importance of teachers’ images of science and learning in constructing a social image of science. In Mexico, studies on the topic are few in number and limited to populations living in restricted sociocultural contexts. This study reports on the findings regarding the conceptions of science of 157 biology teachers in secondary schools in nineteen states in Mexico. Their conception of science is described through their profiles, which relate their ideas to four main philosophical movements. Thus differences and similarities are marked in populations with different disciplinary origins and professional training.
