Abstract

HERNANDEZ, Gloria. The Education of Young People and Adults and the Right to Education: the Topic of the Youth. RMIE [online]. 2012, vol.17, n.53, pp.485-511. ISSN 1405-6666.

This study describes relations among the education of young people and adults, exclusion, and the right to education; it considers a central factor of such relations to be the social agent as a subject of rights and not only as subject to rights. The article suggests that incorporating youth into the discourse of the education of young people and adults-starting in 1997, when the Fifth International Conference on Adult Education was held-permits the renovation of such discourse as it reveals the amplitude of the concept of education and its links with the historical development of human rights and social, economic, and cultural rights. Reflection is encouraged on the implications of the right to a quality education with young people in a situation of educational exclusion in Mexico.

Keywords : right to education; educational exclusion; quality; young people; Mexico.
