Abstract

PORTA, Luis; ALVAREZ, Zelmira  and  YEDAIDE, María Marta. Journeys from the Center to the Periphery of Teacher Education: Narrative Biographical Research and Opportunities for Other Dimensions in the Curriculum. RMIE [online]. 2014, vol.19, n.63, pp.1175-1193. ISSN 1405-6666.

Our research on the training of teacher educators has generated fruitful academic production during the past ten years, supported by the identification of certain especially powerful categories for evaluating our understanding of teaching. This article describes the roads traveled, from central canonical concerns in teacher education to issues that might be considered secondary, but which have arisen as essential aspects of good teaching. We have attempted to draw a map of the projects and share our conceptual and methodological findings. The journey to the foundation of our research can be understood as an odyssey parallel to an in situ category, or as a crossing through the territory of teacher education not exempt from vicissitudes and resistance, but profuse in the generation of profound learning.

Keywords : qualitative research; autobiography; didactics; higher education; teacher education; Argentina.
