Abstract
HERNANDEZ ROJAS, Gerardo; COSSIO GUTIERREZ, Elda Friné and MARTINEZ COMPEAN, María Eugenia. Epistemic Writing of University Students in a System of Distributed Cognitive Activity. RMIE [online]. 2020, vol.25, n.86, pp.519-547. Epub Dec 02, 2020. ISSN 1405-6666.
This article presents a pedagogical design based on a system of distributed cognitive activity, with the objective of improving epistemic writing. Twenty-five university students participated in two sequenced phases. In the first, the students worked in small groups in a regimen of shared social regulation, contributing as co-planners, co-writers, and co-reviewers in constructing protocols for learning (through discussion forums and asynchronous wikis) and for writing academic essays. In the second phase, the participants worked in an individual manner on the same writing protocols, practicing their learning. The results showed that the students attained improved learning of curriculum content and wrote better essays in both phases, as a consequence of their participation in the activity system.
