Abstract

CONCHA-DIAZ, Valeska; JORNET MELIA, Jesús M.  and  BAKIEVA, Margarita. The Initial Education of Early Childhood Education Teachers in Latin America and the Caribbean and the Relationship with the Social Value of Education. RMIE [online]. 2021, vol.26, n.89, pp.369-394.  Epub June 04, 2021. ISSN 1405-6666.

The purpose of this study is to learn how university degrees in early childhood education and care are organized and structured in Latin America and the Caribbean. To reach this goal, the 19 countries in the region were included in an analysis of their systems' access requirements and general characteristics. In addition, a determination was made of the indicators of objective social value that directly influence their structures. To identify training groups and their variables, an analysis of K-media clusters and non-parametric contrasts (chi-square) was carried out. The findings will provide an understanding of the differences that exist in initial teacher education in the region, along with a general vision of the education of future teachers.

Keywords : early childhood education; educational system; initial teacher education; early childhood.
