Abstract

In the context of transformations experienced in the Chilean educational system, this article analyzes the characteristics of the school leadership of ten female principals at Chilean elementary schools. Research of a qualitative nature was carried out, with a narrative biographical focus. The study's main results included the discovery of common elements in the principals' leadership, aimed at empowering the other members of their educational communities and centered on employing emotional skills and the ethics of care. Some of the differences involved their leadership focus in terms of pedagogy and the educational climate.
