Abstract

BUJ BUJ, Antonio. Los riesgos epidémicos actuales desde una perspectiva geográfica. Pap. poblac [online]. 2001, vol.7, n.29, pp.193-223. ISSN 2448-7147.

Some decades ago the international community thought that many of the scourges which have plagued human beings throughout history and have influenced seriously the demographic resources on our planet could be eradicated. In spite of the important victory over smallpox, which was declared eradicated in 1980, some of the most injurious plagues like cholera, malaria, tuberculosis or yellow fever have experienced a resurgence lately and at the same time new ones like AIDS have arisen. All this calls into question the dominant paradigm about infectious diseases. In this article this new situation is analysed taking into account the documentation produced in the field of geography.
