Abstract

ORDORICA, Manuel. Los procesos de ramificación como instrumentos para el estudio de la fecundidad humana. Pap. poblac [online]. 2002, vol.8, n.31, pp.163-175. ISSN 2448-7147.

The purpose of this article is to analyze the change in the levels of fertility in Mexico through Branching Theory, developed by Galton and Watson at the end of the nineteenth century. With this technique it is possible to calculate the probability of extinction of a descendence. This statistical methodology based on the calculus of probability allows using indicators from population's censuses the estimation of fertility levels according to order of birth. This allows making a different analysis from this variable to the one carried out so far in our country. It is possible to analyze what number of daughters and sons the mexican population is tending to have.
